Progress Underway on BNH’s West Street Development
We are excited to share that construction is underway on our new West Street housing development. Once complete, this project will provide 18 affordable units designed for Indigenous families, seniors, and individuals living with disabilities, all offered at below-market rent.
The development will feature a mix of one and two-bedroom units, along with office space, indoor and outdoor programming areas, green space, and a traditional medicine garden. It aims to create safe, inclusive environment where residents can live, connect, and grow in community. The facility has been designed with an Indigenous lens and worked carefully to ensure inclusivity and accessibility wherever possible.
This project reflects our ongoing commitment to providing safe, affordable, and culturally supportive housing for Indigenous populations in the Brantford community. Stay tuned for more updates as construction continues.

Transitional Housing For Women & Children
Brantford Native Housing is in the pre-development stages of a 12-unit transitional housing project for women, children and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community. The site planned for development formerly had a deteriorating housing facility that BNH tore down to start fresh for our future project.
As the first Indigenous trauma-informed transitional housing project in our region, this initiative will provide a critical sanctuary for survivors of gender-based violence and domestic violence. By offering tailored, culturally sensitive programming and flexible stay durations (varies case by case), the project empowers residents to pursue healing and independence on their own terms. Beyond immediate support, the facility serves as a vital bridge to long-term stability, ensuring a seamless transition into affordable or market-rate housing. Our holistic approach aims to break persistent cycles of poverty, homelessness, and systemic inequity by providing the foundational security of stable, supportive housing.
At this stage BNH is in the planning and design process and hope to begin construction by Summer 2026.
